Woods at Valhalla, playing PGA practice round

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tiger Woods has arrived at Valhalla Golf Club, doing so just after 1:15 p.m. ET. GolfChannel.com has learned that he plans to play a 2 p.m. practice round alongside Steve Stricker.

Woods appears ready to try and compete in the 96th PGA Championship. He withdrew Sunday from the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational because of back spasms. He underwent microdiscectomy surgery March 31; though, it's not known if his withdrawal was related to his surgery.

Woods has competed in three tournaments since returning to competition in July. He missed the cut at the Quicken Loans, finished 69th at the British Open and then WD'd at Firestone.

Winless in majors since the 2008 U.S. Open, Woods won the 2000 PGA Championship at Valhalla in a playoff over Bob May.
