AUGUSTA, Ga. – Jonas Blixt has played in three major championships. He has two top-four finishes.
The 29-year-old Swede was in the hunt of the Masters all week – from beginning to end – and was looking to become the first male major champion from his native country. In the end he just didn’t have enough firepower to hunt down winner Bubba Watson.
Blixt was the only player in the field to shoot four rounds under par (70-71-71-71) and he tied for second place with Jordan Spieth, three shots behind Watson. Blixt was fourth last year at the PGA Championship.
“I think they are a lot of fun to play,” Blixt said about majors. “It’s really tough. You beat your head in a little bit but you can’t beat yourself up too bad. The atmosphere, there are so many people here, the excitement of being here, it just adds to the experience.
“I love majors. I love when it’s tough. The harder the better.”
