Norman, Buck to anchor U.S. Open coverage for Fox

RSS

Two-time major champion Greg Norman and Joe Buck will be the new voices of the U.S. Open when Fox begins its coverage of the season's second major in 2015.

According to a Sports Business Daily report, Norman and Buck will be named as the new anchors for the tournament, and the pair will man the tower behind the 18th green at Chambers Bay next summer.

Norman won the British Open in 1986 and 1993 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2001, but has never before announced golf on TV. Buck, reportedly a 3 handicap, has been a part of Fox's NFL and MLB coverage, including multiple Super Bowls and World Series, but like Norman, has no previous experience announcing golf.

According to the report, other on-air positions have yet to be finalized.

Last year, the USGA awarded television rights for its various championships, including the U.S. Open, to Fox as part of a 12-year agreement that will begin in 2015. NBC, which has televised the U.S. Open since 1995, will air the tournament for the final time this summer, when it is contested at Pinehurst No. 2 from June 12-15.
