Last week Phil Mickelson committed to play this event for the first time since 1992. The world No. 5 has yet to record a top 10 in seven PGA Tour starts this season.
Other featured groups include Zach Johnson, Jim Furyk and John Senden, who are set to go off at 9:10 a.m. Johnson, a two-time winner of this event, hasn’t played since 2010, while Furyk finished third here a year ago, when it was held the week prior to the Masters. Senden ended a 7 ½-year winless drought when he broke through two weeks ago in Tampa.
The group of Matt Kuchar, Billy Horschel and Chesson Hadley (2 p.m. Thursday) is also worth noting. Horschel was in contention here a year ago, finishing third, while Hadley needs a good finish to punch his ticket to the Masters. He is currently 56th in the Official World Ranking.
