U.S. Open sectional qualifying: Columbus

The largest U.S. Open sectional qualifying field was the one playing at Scioto and Ohio State's Scarlet Course, where 132 players were going for 16 U.S. Open spots. Notables making it through included medalist Charlie Wi, D.A. Points and Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III. Losing out in a four-players-for-three-spots playoff was Justin Hicks, who was the surprise first-round leader in the 2008 Open at Torrey Pines eventually won by Tiger Woods. The U.S. Open will take place June 14-17 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco.
