U.S. Open sectional qualifying: Texas

Jordan Spieth and Cory Whitsett, who competed for Texas and Alabama, respectively, on Sunday in the final of the NCAA Championship, were eliminated in a four-players-for-two-spots playoff in the U.S. Open sectional qualifier Monday at Lakeside Country Club in Houston. PGA Tour regular Bob Estes led the field at 6 under. The U.S. Open will take place June 14-17 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco.
