The calendar has flipped to September, and the golf season is nearing its conclusion. But the countdown to Baker's Bay rolls right along, and Andrew "Beef" Johnston hopes to snag an invite next spring for the most high-profile vacation in golf.
Johnston is back in the U.S. this week, teeing it up in the DAP Championship for the first leg of the Web.com Tour Finals as he pursues full-time status on the PGA Tour. It would mean many more "Beef" cheers from American golf fans next season, and it would also give Johnston more opportunity to fraternize with Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas and Smylie Kaufman, who took social media by storm during their spring break romp in the Bahamas.
Johnston would be an intriguing addition to the all-American boys' trip, and he expressed his interest when asked about it Wednesday:
"It'd be interesting to see what they say, yeah," Johnston said. "I've mentioned it to them before, so it'd be interesting if I get an invitation."
Johnston appears to have an early endorsement from Thomas, who quickly shared his support for the affable Englishman:
#SB2K17 will be here before we know it - with or without the Beef.
