Slam Dunk champ LaVine is not bad with a driver

In case you live under a rock, 19-year-old Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Zach LaVine single handedly brought the NBA Slam Dunk Contest back from the dead last night.

The kid was sensational from start to finish, opening with a Space Jam-themed throwdown and eventually recieving 194 out of a possible 200 points and the title from a panel of superstar judges including Julius Erving, Nate Archibald, Chris Mullin, Walt Frazier and Bernard King.

If you haven't seen the jam session, check it out below. Five million views (as of this writing) can't be wrong.

What you may not know about the reigning Slam Dunk champ is that he has some golf game, too, evidenced by the Instagram video below of him at a driving range from nine months ago.

Sure, his attire is a little unorthodox, his hand comes off the club at the end and his lingo (home run) could use a little work. Maybe he's not the best golfer, then again, maybe he was just showing us a glimpse of that flair for the dramatic that would make him a household name last night. His drive actually looked pretty good.

One thing is for sure, we didn't know him as a golfer yet. Well, now we do.

Hey, he followed Michael Jordan this far, maybe a successful transition to the course is next.
