After entering to LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out,” Rosaforte noted that Tiger referenced this song after he won the Chevron World Challenge. Tiger recently shot a 63 in a friendly round at Seminole Golf Club and at all of the local clubs in Jupiter people have been talking about this round and how he has been playing lately. This was the first time that he had ever seen the legendary Seminole Golf Club and Tiger’s playing partner said that he made the round look ridiculously easy. Everyone at Tiger’s home course at Medalist GC is remarking how well has been hitting the ball in practice and playing sessions. Tim has spoken recently with 2011 U.S. Senior Open Champion Olin Browne who is also a member at Medalist and said that he expects Tiger Woods to have a monster 2012.
Fredrik Jacobson, who is also from Jupiter and had a great 2011 with a win in the Travelers Championship, is still recovering from a thumb injury which forced him out of the 2011 Franklin Templeton Shootout. Jacobson had been looking forward to going to Kapalua as he is also an enthusiastic surfer but he will not be back for a while due to this injury.
He played with Erik Compton in Miami recently and also saw him at Medalist not too long ago and feels that Compton will have a slow start to the 2012 season and he is currently dealing with a foot injury. He has not played that much recently due to the injury and Compton has said that he will go out there and improvise a little bit when he is out on the PGA TOUR early on in 2012. There is no doubt about his talent as he was one of the top junior and collegiate players in the country but he has been restricted by his health and further by the practice limitations but he has been resilient and Tim expects to see some good golf from Compton.
Entering his second segment to Keegan Bradley’s favorite band Mumford and Sons, Rosaforte noted that Keegan is on his way to Kapalua from West Palm Beach as he begins his second season on the PGA TOUR. He has been talking to Keegan a lot over the holidays and Keegan has been spending time with family in Boston when he has not been practicing in West Palm Beach. Tim feels that Keegan will not have a sophomore slump and the win that he picked up with Brendan Steele at the Franklin Templeton Shootout is evidence of this.
Adam Scott is not playing at Kapalua this week and according to Scott’s manager, Adam will not be playing at all in 2012 until the Northern Trust Open in mid-February. Adam enjoys playing in Hawaii but this year he has decided to take some more time off before beginning his worldwide tournament schedule.
In two weeks, the Humana Challenge will be played and Bill Clinton’s foundation is closely involved. Phil Mickelson and Anthony Kim are just two notable players who are considering entering the event in Palm Springs which is evidence of Clinton’s influence. The event was on life support for much of 2011 and the fact that there is a lot of buzz for an event this early in the year is great for the PGA TOUR, great for golf, and great for Bill Clinton and his foundation as well.
Rickie Fowler and Tiger Woods will be honorary captains for Oklahoma State and Stanford, respectively, tonight in the Fiesta Bowl. Tim is interested to see if Fowler is still sporting a Captain Jack Sparrow look that he has had over the holidays in Jupiter. Both Rickie and Tiger have engaged in playful trash talking leading up to this game tonight.
When it comes to New Year’s Resolutions, Tim says that he wants to stop whining on the golf course to his buddies when he is not playing well. On another note, Chubby Chandler has gained some momentum in the U.S. after establishing a base for ISM in West Palm Beach and signing Peter Uihlein to a contract. Chandler will visit with Jordan Spieth soon and does not think Chandler is done signing U.S. players.
He does not like what Sergio Garcia did by throwing a golf club in an event in Thailand in December. It is not wrong to show emotion on the course but in this case he thinks that Sergio showed too much emotion in an inappropriate way and should be reprimanded in some way.
