-Well, obviously, to be successful, you have to make sure that your alignment is correct and the key to alignment is understanding that your body lines do not go at your target. In other words if I was gonna hit a pot from here to there, I would not set my body up to that right there. What I wanna do is I wanna set my lines parallel. So when you step in here, we've got 2 alignment rods set on the ground here. Go ahead and set in there, Holly, if you would. -Between these? -Well yeah, we're gonna start up to the golf ball. -The ball? -That's perfect. And what we wanna do is wanna check the distance that our toes are from this right here. So you can see this space right here is a little bit bigger than this space right here. -Okay. -So this foot needs to come up a little bit. -Come up a little bit. -That's right. And now, the knees are gonna be parallel to that, the hips are parallel to that, and then the shoulders are parallel to that. So, while they're all varying and where they are relative to this alignment right here or the target line, they're all varying distances, they're all parallel. And the whole key to a proper alignment is making sure that those lines are parallel to the target that you're trying to aim at, not aiming at the target -

the show. -Good to be here, Tom. -Okay. I know you stress alignment and you stress target orientation and the relationship between the two. -That's correct. -Very important in your frame work. Why? -Well, forleft when they hit it to the right, so they're constantly changing alignment based on ball flight. -Okay. And the correct alignment obviously is that you have a target line, you have a parallel body line, right? -That's correct. I like to make sure that when you're getting set up, that obviously the face of the club goes to the target and then my shoulders, hips and knees are parallel to that target. If I'm in a good square position, I can do a couple of things. One is I can get a good take away and get the club going back on plane. I can also rotate and turn my shoulders. -Uh-huh. -If I'm in a position where I am in poor alignment , -Right. -it affects the ball position. My ball position is gonna get distorted, and look at my shoulders. If I'm left ofclub because this show is so graphic, folks. First, show them correct alignment , you know, her shoulders are squared to a target line and target line is the one to her right on your screen there, and watch her swing. Takes it squarely back, up it goes, and she reroutes so that it comes down and is very much on the same line, slightly inside on the lighted impact, right on a nice circular swing. That's what good alignment will, at least the left. -Yes. -And if you show them the variation of that. Show them the person who is afraid
