Tom Lehman - Ball Position - Golf Channel Academy
simply is gonna help you get the ball position right every time, you know ..... things that I think are important, ball position , posture, and then path, you ..... line. I got the club and the ball position just right, right in the center
This club right here is simply is gonna help you get the ball position right every time, you know, and the clubs also because they're perpendicular and only parallel to your target, you know, will allow you to try to set up square. So you want your feet, your knees, your hips, your shoulders all to be square to this club right here. So it kind of copies all the things that I think are important, ball position , posture, and then path, you know. So I hit a lot of balls like this where I just set up where I'm square to my target line. I got the club and the ball position just right, right in the center and then I just swing down the target line trying to repeat this over and over -

SwingFix: Stance Width and Ball Position tips
do with your stance, and also ball position . So, first thing we're gonna ..... for a good balance. And if the ball position is right in the middle of my stance ..... all right. So, I've got the ball position to the center, that'd be great
of things that would have to do with your stance, and also ball position . So, first thing we're gonna do is talk about width of stance, how far do I get my feet apart? It's a question that we often get. Real simple way to do it, we actually call it the Charlie Chaplin, you'll see why in a second. So, I put my feet together touching, it's very important with the touching there. What I'm gonna do is I'm just gonna [unk] and swing my feet out almost about as wide as I can go. And then from there what I'm gonna do is go up on my toes, swing my heels out, all right. I've got about a 15 degree angle out from each one of my feet for a good balance. And if the ball position is right in the middle of my stance now, I've got a perfect width for about an 8-iron on down. But that'sheels here, up of my toes, all right. So, I've got the ball position to the center, that'd be great for an 8-iron, and down to my wedges. But if I get that longer club like a 3-wood I'm holding here, all I wanna do is just start to move my right foot back. And in this case I go back about 2 or 3 inches, widen that stance. And you can see now the ball position has moved a little bit further up with my stance there. All right. And then for a driver, we're gonna go even more to get that just inside the heel. So, there's two tricks there for you to work on, two great ways to find your width of stance. You put your feet together, open your toes, up on your toes, here we got our ball position for an 8-iron or below and then move that right foot back to get your width for the longer clubs. That should help you figure out where to put that ball position to hit better shots. Good luck. -
The Golf Fix E-Mail Bag: Ball Position
tips and drills. Can you please talk about ball position ? Please demonstrate ball position starting with the driver and going all the ..... that people have, misconception about the ball position . I'm just gonna talk about it relative to
Michael, great show, great tips and drills. Can you please talk about ball position ? Please demonstrate ball position starting with the driver and going all the way to the putter, including hybrids. Thanks. Alright Joe, good question. Big problem that people have, misconception about the ball position . I'm just gonna talk about it relative to the driver so that you get an understanding of how this all works, and here's the way this works. So many of you are taught that ball position is a lower body thing, specifically with the feet, so your driver should be off of your toe and the 5-iron should be just inside and the pitching wedge should be in the center of your stance and so on and so forth. And the truth is, is that ball position is all an upper body thing. So, I look at ball position relative to where the ball is in my upper body. So, I'm gonna take, say if we could back out just a little bit and give me a number one here. Thanks. So, what you can see here is that-- so my Golf Channel logo right there is a little bit behind the ball, but that is still well within the framework of my feet, and I want the ball position with my driver to be right around my armpit, right around that Golf Channel logo right there with the driver. If Ileft, and that good reverse K position right there. And now, that ball position feels like it's forward which is what I want but it's not outside of my framework. And then, I go ahead and hit that shot. Alright. So that's gonna help you with that ball position . What I would tell you with the putter, the only thing that's different with the putter is that you wanna pay attention to where the weight distribution is in your feet. So, if you get set up to hit a putt and you like to lean on your left side, again, because I'm leaning on my left side here, my spine moves forward so that ball position could be played a little bit more forward. If I'm a person that likes to have my weight distribution equally balanced in the feet, then my ball position could be a little bit farther back but so much of that is gonna depend on where you have your weight distribution in the putting which is completely different than what you do when you hit a full shot because you don't have that kind of allowance in the full shot. You're gonna have your balance pretty much the same every single time. Alright? Alright, I know that's gonna help you out with that ball position . Where to get that ball position more in the upper body, pay attention to where it is up here, not in your feet. I know that will help -
