Perhaps needling Tiger Woods was just what Steven Bowditch needed to jump-start his game.
Bowditch struggled mightily on the PGA Tour last season, carding 14 rounds of 80 or higher. But the two-time tournament champ took those results in stride, and when Woods announced his withdrawal from the season-opening Safeway Open, the Aussie tweeted that a round with him might be just enough to turn Woods’ “vulnerable” golf game around:
Don't wd tiger!! Come play a couple of practice rounds with me.. Your confidence will go through the roof!! 😜😜 https://t.co/oAIOR2NOc5

But when Bowditch returned to the course Tuesday during a practice round, he promptly aced the 212-yard seventh hole at Silverado Resort & Spa, with playing partner and fellow pro Boo Weekley on hand to witness the shot:
One thing worse than having a hole in one on Tuesday. Making it against @booweekley 😂😂 #natylite #unluckytiger! pic.twitter.com/KkIpXaFBqI

Assuming he’s able to cover the pending bar tab out in wine country, Bowditch will begin his new season at 4 p.m. ET Thursday alongside Robert Streb and Tony Finau.
