South Africa's George Coetzee will be sidelined for the next 8-12 weeks after breaking his ankle in an off-course accident.
Coetzee posted a picture of himself in a wheelchair Saturday on Instagram, offering a thumbs-up but also sporting a sizeable cast:
"Had a little fall in the waves," Coetzee wrote. "Thought it was just a brutal twist but it ended up snapping clean through!"
Coetzee, 29, plays mostly on the European Tour, but he made seven PGA Tour starts this season highlighted by a career-best T-7 finish at the PGA Championship. He finished T-35 at the Wyndham Championship two weeks ago in his most recent start.
Coetzee is 18th in the European Tour's Race to Dubai standings, but the injury will likely sideline him for the circuit's final events, which begin Oct. 29 in Turkey and conclude Nov. 22 in Dubai.
