Former British Open winner Nagle dies at 94


Former British Open winner Kel Nagle died Wednesday, the PGA of Australia announced. He was 94.

Nagle was one of Australia’s most successful golfers. He won the 1960 Open, when he beat Arnold Palmer by a shot at St. Andrews, and finished second at the 1965 U.S. Open, where he lost an 18-hole playoff to Gary Player. Over Nagle’s long career he amassed 81 professional titles, including at least one every year between 1949 and 1975. 

Nagle was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007.
