Honolulu police give update in Allenby case

Honolulu police announced this week an arrest of a 32-year-old man on charges of identity theft in connection to the use of Robert Allenby’s credit cards.

Allenby was found injured last month on a street in Hawaii after missing the cut at the Sony Open. His cash and credit cards were missing.

A police spokeswoman also confirmed to NBC News that Allenby “did not patronize an adult entertainment establishment,” as had been previously reported.

“It was a case of mistaken identity,” a police detective told The Associated Press.
