Chris Kirk’s final round at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions was good - perhaps too good.
Kirk set a personal best and tied a course record at Kapalua with an 11-under 62 Monday, moving from last place among the winners-only field into a tie for 14th. After taking the short trip from Maui to Oahu for this week’s Sony Open in Hawaii, Kirk was promptly greeted by a drug test request from the PGA Tour.
While requests for player samples are made at random throughout the year under the Tour’s anti-doping policy, Kirk kept his sense of humor while noting the curious timing:
Like clockwork, tie course record on Monday, drug test on Wednesday. pic.twitter.com/CA344lBJ1e

Perhaps the only way to avoid testing is to make fewer birdies.
