McIlroy’s manager, Sean O’Flaherty, said in a text message to Golf Channel insider Tim Rosaforte: “Rehab is going good and progressing well. Should know more later this week.”
There have been conflicting reports over the past 24 hours. Reuters, citing a “reliable” source, reported Monday evening that McIlroy was scheduled to play a practice round Saturday at PGA venue Whistling Straits; the world No. 1’s publicist told the Irish Golf Desk on Tuesday that the report was false and that no round has been booked.
McIlroy has been out since early July after rupturing a ligament in his left ankle. He has already missed three tournaments, including this week’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
McIlroy finished one shot out of a playoff when the PGA was last held at Whistling Straits, in 2010.
