Yuta Sugiura shot a historic 12-under 58 during his third round at the Compliance Solutions Championship in Oklahoma on Saturday.
Sugiura started the day T-47 on the leaderboard at The Patriot Golf Club before shooting up into the tournament’s top five by the time he signed his card. At 17 under, he sits four off Trent Phillips’ clubhouse lead and T-8.
Sugiura made 11 birdies, an eagle and one bogey, going out in 29 and coming home in 29 to become just fourth player in Korn Ferry Tour history to break 59.

Starting his round on No. 10, he opened with two birdies before gaining strokes at Nos. 14, 16, 17 and 18. An eagle at the par-5 opening hole took him to 8 under. He gave a shot back with a bogey at the second, his only blemish of the day.
A birdie at the 482-yard third sparked another run of circles for the 25-year-old Japanese native.
Sugiura birdied Nos. 5 through 8 got him to 12 under. He closed with a par at the par-3 ninth to sign for 58.
Sugiura’s round is the 19th sub-60 round in Korn Ferry Tour history, and the third this year. It is the fourth consecutive season that three sub-60 rounds have been shot on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Chris Francoeur put together a second round 59 at the 2026 Utah Championship at the end of July. Less than 10 days later, Frankie Harris posted a final round 12-under 59 that eventually led to his first career victory at the Pinnacle Bank Championship after a playoff.
Cristobal del Solar’s 13-under 57 in the first round of the 2024 Astara Golf Championship remains the Korn Ferry Tour’s lowest single round in history. There have only been two players to shoot 58 on the KFT — Stephan Jaeger in 2016 and Frankie Capan in 2024.
The historic round came at a crucual moment for Sugiura. He entered the week on the bubble at No. 21, one spot outside the threshold for earning a PGA Tour card.
Sugiura was not the only subterranean round at Patriot on Moving Day.
William Sides, a Tulsa native, shot a bogey-free 10-under 60 after lipping out for 59 on the 18th green.

He is currently in a tie for third place at 18 under. He started the week 82nd on the points list and is now projected No. 58. The top 60 qualify for the Korn Ferry Tour Championship and are guaranteed no worse than full Korn Ferry Tour status next season.
Ross Steelman, who sits T-3 with Sides, also got in with a 60 despite missing his par putt at the par-3 ninth hole and settling for a bogey at the turn.
Phillips, Carson Young and Robby Shelton all shot 9-under 61s. Young is in solo second, while Shelton is also T-3 with Steelman and Sides.
Six more got home with 62s on a course that was played with preferred lies and saw significantly less wind than it did in previous days.
