PHOENIX – Giulia Molinaro won a new Kia K900 automobile thanks to a hole-in-one at the 17th hole in the first round of the Founders Cup.
The second-year LPGA pro from Italy holed out from 148 yards with an 8-iron.
“I screamed 'Car!’ in Italian,” Molinaro said.
Molinaro made it into the field through a Monday qualifier. Getting the chance to play this week means a lot to her, as she played collegiately at nearby Arizona State and still makes her home in the Phoenix area.
“I love living here, and I love how close I am to ASU and how close I've become to the school and how strong I feel for it,” Molinaro said. “It's an honor to play any event, but when it's back home, it's a bit more special.”
It was the fourth hole-in-one of Molinaro’s life, her second in an LPGA event.
