PGA West’s Palmer Private and Nicklaus courses are reportedly pulling out after January 2015, continuing a series of tournament tweaks in the past few years – a new partnership, a format change and the elimination of more than half the amateur field.
The Tour has about 18 months to find a pair of new host sites, and the Desert Sun speculated that SilverRock and PGA West’s TPC Stadium Course likely will be in the mix. La Quinta Country Club has been a part of the tournament’s rotation every year since 2010.
In 2011, the tournament was held over five days and at four different courses, including Silver Rock. From 2012-14, the event was four rounds and La Quinta and PGA West’s Palmer and Nicklaus courses were used in the rotation.
