Champions’ 2027 schedule opens with back-to-back Hawaii stops, closes at Papago

PGA Tour Champions released its 2027 schedule Wednesday, a 27-event season that opens with consecutive weeks in Hawaii and ends at a new home for the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

Players will compete for more than $70 million in total prize money in 18 states and three other countries (Wales, Portugal and Canada).

The season begins Jan. 14-16 with the debut of the Sony Championship Hawaii at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu then continues with the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai Jan. 21-23 on the Big Island.

“Hawaii has long been synonymous with PGA Tour golf, and we are looking forward to opening the season with back-to-back events in one of the world’s most stunning locales,” PGA Tour Champions President Miller Brady said. “The commitment we’ve seen from our players, partners and fans continues to create strong momentum for the Champions Tour, and I know 2027 will deliver another incredible year for some of the game’s legendary players.”

The majors

The first of five senior majors is the Hoag Senior Players Championship on March 25-28 at Newport Beach Country Club in California.

The Senior PGA Championship returns to The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida, April 15-18, a year after its first stop there. The Regions Tradition is next up on May 13-16 at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama.

Oak Tree National in Edmond, Oklahoma, hosts the U.S. Senior Open July 1-4. The course staged the 1984 U.S. Amateur and the 1988 PGA Championship, and Colin Montgomerie won the 2014 U.S. Senior Open there.

The ISPS Handa Senior Open goes back to Royal Porthcawl in Wales for the fourth time, July 22-25.

Rest of the season

The tour stays in Europe the week after the Senior Open for the Portugal Invitational, hosted by Ernie Els, at The Els Club Vilamoura from July 30 to Aug. 1.

The 24-event regular season ends Oct. 15-17 with the SAS Championship in Cary, North Carolina. The Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs again open in St. Louis with the Stifel Charity Classic, Oct. 22-24, before the Simmons Bank Championship in Little Rock, Arkansas, Oct. 29-31.

The Charles Schwab Cup Championship closes the official season Nov. 12-14 and moves from Phoenix Country Club to nearby Papago Golf Club.

Two Challenge Season events round out the year. The Skechers World Champions Cup, which pits teams from the United States, Europe and the International side against one another, returns Dec. 2-5 at a site to be announced. The PNC Championship wraps up the calendar Dec. 18-19 at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
