SAN FRANCISCO – Although there is no Phil Mickelson in the field this week at the WGC-Cadillac Match Play, there will be a Mickelson competing this weekend in San Francisco.

Tim Mickelson, Lefty’s brother and the head golf coach at Arizona State, is playing this week’s U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. He will be teamed with Jake Yount when play begins on Saturday at The Olympic Club, which is adjacent to Harding Park.

Phil Mickelson withdrew from this year’s WGC-Match Play for personal reasons and has not played the event since 2011.

James Edmondson is also in the field for the inaugural U.S. Amateur Four-Ball. Edmondson caddies for Ryan Palmer, who is playing the WGC-Match Play.

Edmondson, who will team with Zach Atkinson, said he will try to sneak in practice rounds between his duties this week at Harding Park but if Palmer advances to weekend play that could complicate his plans.
