The USGA is awesome

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Thunderstorms that were forecast to disrupt play at the U.S. Open sectional qualifier in Columbus arrived later than expected, with officials evacuating the course at 4:45 p.m. (ET) at Brookside Golf & Country Club. However players are due back in position by 6:20 p.m. to resume play.

Bryson DeChambeau, the NCAA individual champion, was leading at 11 under on Brookside followed by Bo Van Pelt and Camilo Villegas a shot back.

The weather warning also opened the door for even more players to withdraw from the event. Twenty-eight players withdrew before play began on Monday and another 15 exited with the arrival of the storm.

The top 15 players will earn exemptions into the U.S. Open.
