Jimmy Walker took home top honors at the Masters Par-3 Contest, shooting a course record on an afternoon filled with plenty of cheers from the patrons.
Walker carded an 8-under 19 on the nine-hole layout, bettering the prior course record by a shot. He aced the second hole and added six more birdies against just a pair of pars.
Walker finished three shots ahead of Keegan Bradley and Craig Stadler. In so doing, he becomes the latest to attempt to buck a rather high-profile trend at Augusta National: No winner of the Par 3 contest has ever gone on to claim the green jacket in the same week.
There were highlights aplenty during the exhibition, as nine players made holes-in-one. That broke the previous record of five, and it was a group that included 80-year-old Gary Player becoming the oldest to make an ace, while Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler made back-to-back aces on No. 4.
