Rickie Fowler made the shot of the day at the Irish Open on Saturday to move back into contention, but then he knocked himself out of the running with a horrible finish at Royal County Down.
Fowler nearly drove the par-4 16th and then hit this gorgeous chip-in for an eagle to move to 2 under par:
But just as it looked like the Players champion was about to give himself a shot at the title on Sunday, Fowler’s round came crashing down. Two drives went O.B. and lead to a quadruple-bogey 8 on the par-4 17th and another tee shot O.B. meant a triple-bogey 8 on the par-5 18th.
Fowler finished at 5 over par after a 76. Had he parred in, Fowler would only be five back heading into the final round.
