Karrie Webb equaled the tournament record with a 7-under-par 64 Saturday at the North Texas Shootout to move into contention to win her 42nd LPGA title.
If Webb wins, she will move into a tie for ninth with Sandra Haynie on the LPGA’s career victory list. Webb is currently tied with Babe Zaharias with 41 career titles.
Webb, already an LPGA Hall of Famer, is one shot behind Inbee Park and Lexi Thompson at Las Colinas Country Club. Webb won twice last year and remains highly motivated since turning 40 in December. She began working with Mike McGetrick as her new coach last year. She has her eyes on representing Australia with golf returning to the Olympics next year.
“I've worked really hard the last 12 months, made a few changes in my swing,” Webb told media Saturday after her round. “The last couple weeks, it's really sticking and that's good to feel, and good to be able to hit shots that I want to hit out on the golf course.”
