Scottish vet, 45, earns way back to DP World Tour with clutch finish in HotelPlanner final

Fifteen full DP World Tour cards were handed out Sunday in Spain after Julien Sale won the HotelPlanner Tour’s Grand Final.

Sale was among several players, including eventual Road to Mallorca winner Hamish Brown, who were already guaranteed Category 15 status for 2027 before teeing off this past week.

But Marc Warren, a 45-year-old Scot with four DP World Tour wins under his belt, turned in a clutch final nine holes to lock up what will be his first full season on Europe’s top circuit since 2023.

Warren birdied five of his last eight holes to move into a share of fifth, earning enough points to vault from No. 20 to No. 13 in the season-long points race.

Also earning full DP World Tour status in addition to Brown, Sale and Warren: Lars Van Der Vight, Christofer Blomstrand, MJ Daffue, Pablo Ereno, Tapio Pulkkanen, Adam Wallin, Liam Nolan, John Gough, Sebastian Friedrichsen, Will Enefer, Andrew Wilson and Maxence Giboudot.

Falling out of the top 15 was Matthew Southgate, though he, Louis Albertse, Kristian Hjort Bressum, John Catlin and Pedro Figueiredo all locked up Category 19 membership on the DP World Tour next year. Ten more players will receive Category 20 status, including Charlie Forster, Hurly Long and Frederik Kjettrup.
