Another runner-up finish for Snedeker

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – You can excuse Brandt Snedeker if he felt a case of déjà vu on Sunday.

One week after finishing in a share of second place at the Farmers Insurance Open when Tiger Woods ran away with it, he finished runner-up to Phil Mickelson is an eerily similar scenario at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

“I feel like I'm running into Hall of Famers every week,” Snedeker said after rounds of 64-66-65-65. “It would be nice if they weren't in the field and I could go ahead and go after it. It's just tough, you know.”

Snedeker can take solace in the fact that he’s now finished sixth or better in six of his last eight PGA Tour starts dating back to last August. Asked if he feels like an elite player, though, and he blanches at the thought.

“You have to win majors and win tournaments to be recognized as an elite player,” he said. “And I haven't done nearly enough of that, you know. I'm playing great right now. I'm as high as I have ever been in the world ranking and all that kind of stuff, but you have to win tournaments to validate that. I haven't done it.”
