Webb Simpson is officially joining the U.S. Presidents Cup team, which will compete at Medinah Country Club from Sept. 24-27.
The 41-year-old has been named as the squad’s third captain’s assistant, team captain Brandt Snedeker announced on Monday.
“Representing the United States has always been a massive career highlight, whether as a player or in a leadership role,” Simpson said.
“Webb embodies everything you want in an assistant,” Snedeker added in a statement. “He has competed at the highest level, has represented our country on various teams and he’s earned tremendous respect from players across generations.”
Simpson is no stranger to the U.S team. He also served as a captain’s assistant in 2022 and was a three-time winning member of the Presidents Cup team in 2011, 2013 and 2019.
“His experience as a Presidents Cup competitor, major champion and seven-time PGA Tour winner gives him a valuable perspective. The guys tend to gravitate toward Webb, and I know he’ll have a strong and positive impact in the team room,” Snedeker said.
2024 U.S. Presidents Cup captain Jim Furyk and 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley will also serve in the role alongside Simpson, with one remaining slot available for Snedeker to fill.
