A hole measuring 260 yards used to be a short par-4 at your local municipal course. This week it’s the length of the par-3 15th hole at Atlanta Athletic Club, which presents a daunting tee shot over water with little margin for error. Though clearly a taxing hole, great shots here helped to propel both Jerry Pate (1976 U.S. Open) and David Toms (2001 PGA) to major victories in years past.
