Auburn superfan Jason Dufner has a problem.
Against all odds, his beloved Tigers have reached the SEC Championship in Atlanta, where they will face off against Missouri. It’s a joyous occasion for Dufner and Tigers fans everywhere, after enduring a 3-9 season just a year ago.
But the game itself? Well, that poses a bit of a conflict for Dufner.
He has to work Saturday – he’s one of 18 players in this week’s Northwestern Mutual World Challenge, the no-cut tournament that Tiger Woods hosts each year.
Kickoff for the SEC title game is 4 p.m. ET. The third round at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif., is scheduled to end at 6 p.m. ET. In this Twitter generation, DVR is not an option. See where we’re going with this?
So Dufner took to Twitter on Monday to try and find a solution. This exchange ensued:
Dear Mr @TigerWoods I petition the event this week to play 36 holes Thurs and Friday,so I can watch my beloved Auburn play for SEC champ thx

Hey, it seemed like a reasonable request to us. Apparently Woods didn’t feel the same, as evidenced by his response via Twitter:
@JasonDufner Petition denied.

Dufner wasn’t particularly pleased with the host’s response, but it appears as if the show must go on - both on the golf course and the field.
@TigerWoods total B.S. It was worth a try tho.

Dufner then decided to take matters into his own hands...
Since @TigerWoods is not being nice, I need your bag @PGA_JohnDaly that has the TV on it for next Saturday. pic.twitter.com/JeKC2TsoYX
