SAN DIEGO – The PGA Tour announced Wednesday that it has reached $2 billion in charitable giving.

After passing $1 billion in total dollars raised in 2005, the Tour needed only eight years to reach this latest milestone.

Commissioner Tim Finchem said Wednesday that last year, players alone generated nearly $35 million in charitable dollars. In all, the annual contributions exceeded $133 million in 2013.

“Going forward, our goal is to continue to grow the charitable impact, and I know that in the stories we’ve tried to tell we focus on what these dollars do to change lives and to improve lives,” Finchem said. “The $2 billion is just a number; it’s just a point in the road.”
