Woods has early tee time after poor opening round

ATLANTA – Usually, going from last to first in a golf tournament is a good thing. But not at the Tour Championship and not when we’re talking about tee times.

As the leader in the FedEx Cup standings, Tiger Woods played in the final twosome of the day on Thursday alongside No. 2 man Henrik Stenson.

A birdie-free 3-over 73, though, left him in 29th place in the 30-man field.

Because this tournament re-pairs based on leaderboard standing after each round, Woods will tee off Friday in the first twosome of the day, playing alongside Jason Dufner at 11:40 a.m. ET.

Woods moved down to third place on the projected FedEx Cup standings.
