Co-champion of the 2016 Scripps National Spelling (and dabbing) Bee, Jairam Hathwar, let it slip after the contest that he is inspired by Jordan Spieth.

That little tidbit of information got back to Spieth, and the two-time major champion surprised Hathwar on the 'Live with Kelly' show Tuesday via video message to invite the 13-year-old to The Barclays in August.

Just before the surprise, Hathwar shared his admiration for Spieth, saying, “He’s only 21 years old and he’s taking on these veterans and showing that it doesn’t matter how old you are, you can still … put in the effort and do well.”

You can check out the whole video below, with the Spieth segment starting at the 1:45 mark.

Hathwar also joined Morning Drive on Tuesday to spell some golf names, where he was tripped up by Ariya Jutanugarn. Hard to blame the kid.
