PGA Championship Week Features Include: Dustin Johnson’s Whistling Straits Return; the Unique Partnership Between Herb Kohler and Pete Dye; Looking Back at Vijay Singh’s Remarkable 2004 Season

 In preparation for the final men’s major championship of the year, Golf Channel is dedicating more than 60 live hours of news, analysis, highlights, interviews, instruction and debate surrounding the 2015 PGA Championship, taking place Aug. 10-16 at Whistling Straits Golf Course in Sheboygan, Wis.

GOLF CENTRAL LIVE FROM THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP: Headlining Golf Channel’s live coverage will be Golf Central’s Live From the PGA Championship wraparound news programming, which will feature the latest developments from Whistling Straits throughout the week. Ryan Burr, Rich Lerner and Kelly Tilghman will anchor Golf Channel’s Live From the PGA Championshiptelecasts from Whistling Straits, and will be joined by analysts Notah Begay, Brandel Chamblee, David Duval, Colin Montgomerie, Frank Nobilo, Arron Oberholser and Mark Rolfing. Michael Breed, Todd Lewis and Steve Sands will provide interviews and reports on the ground throughout the week, and John Feinstein, Tim Rosaforte and Ken Schofield also will contribute daily reports. Originating from a custom-built set that will feature two stages – the main stage overlooking the practice putting green and a conversation set overlooking the driving range – Live From the PGA Championship will provide comprehensive insight, analysis, exclusive features and breaking news on emerging storylines throughout the week.

WHISTLING STRAITS: TEE TO GREEN WITH FRANK NOBILO: Golf Channel analyst Frank Nobilo will give viewers an in-depth look at Whistling Straits through dedicated “Tee to Green” segments, which will run during Golf Channel’s news programming throughout the week. The segments will break down the Straits Course, highlighting the signature holes that could play a crucial role with players in contention during Sunday’s final round.

FEATURES: Throughout the week, Live From the PGA Championship will present compelling features showcasing the history of the PGA Championship, Whistling Straits Golf Course, and the best storylines surrounding the event. A sampling includes (previews are available upon request):

  • Dustin Johnson’s Return to Whistling Straits and Major Championship Heartbreak – Golf Channel will take a look back at Dustin Johnson’s heartbreaks at the 2010 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits and, most recently, the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. Golf Channel’s Mark Rolfing sits down with Johnson to reflect on those moments and his mindset as he returns to Whistling Straits.
  • The Kohler Dye-Namic – Golf Channel travel insider Matt Ginella catches up with the two men whose vision for the shores of Lake Michigan became a reality – Herb Kohler and course architect Pete Dye. Ginella takes a tour of Whistling Straits with Kohler and Dye, highlighting their unique partnership.
  • Vijay Singh’s Incredible 2004 Season – In 2004, at age 41, Vijay Singh had one of the best seasons in PGA TOUR history: nine PGA TOUR victories, including the 2004 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits; first to break golf’s $10 million barrier in a single year; oldest player to win consecutive money titles;and ended Tiger Woods’ five-year reign atop the Official World Golf Rankings. Golf Channel will take a look back at Vijay Singh’s 2004 season, highlighted by his PGA Championship victory at Whistling Straits in a playoff over Chris DiMarco and Justin Leonard, his third and most-recent major championship victory.

MORNING DRIVE: Setting the early programming stage each day, Morning Drive will examine the key storylines throughout the week. Morning Drive will expand on Tuesday and Wednesday to three hours to cover pre-tournament news conferences live from Whistling Straits, and will air for two hours Thursday-Sunday beginning at 6 a.m. ET, providing interviews, expert analysis and highlights. John Cook and Chris DiMarco – who lost in a playoff to Vijay Singh at the 2004 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits – will join Cara Robinson, Gary Williams and Lauren Thompson in-studio. Damon Hack, Matt Ginella and Charlie Rymer will be on-site Tuesday-Sunday.

PLAYER NEWS CONFERENCES: Morning Drive and Live From the PGA Championship will feature the entire slate of player news conferences staged from Whistling Straits on Tuesday and Wednesday.

THE GOLF FIX: 2012 PGA Teacher of the Year Michael Breed will host a special edition of The Golf Fix instruction show on-site from the Whistling Straits driving range, airing on Monday at 6 p.m. ET. Breed will be joined by players competing in the PGA Championship to discuss preparations leading into the final men’s major of 2015. Jordan Spieth’s swing coach and 2015 PGA Teacher of the Year, Cameron McCormick, also is scheduled to join the show, along with students from the local First Tee chapter.

DIGITAL: GolfChannel.com will feature expanded editorial content during PGA Championship week with up-to-the-minute news, blogs and fan interaction, including:

  • News and features – GolfChannel.com writers will post PGA Championship-related features throughout the week, beginning on Monday. Golf Channel’s team of writers – Jay Coffin, Rex Hoggard, Ryan Lavner and Randall Mell will contribute daily stories and features throughout the week from Whistling Straits.
  • Live Streaming 24/7 – Viewers who are customers of participating cable, satellite, telco and other video subscription services will be able to enjoy 24/7 streaming of Golf Channel content –      including Morning Drive and Live From the PGA Championship – through GolfChannel.com and Golf Live Extra. International PGA Championship Programming

Golf Channel also will produce live international PGA Championship news programming from its Orlando World Headquarters in both Japanese and Mandarin. The shows will feature live reports and custom content from Whistling Straits throughout the week. These productions will complement the international distribution of Golf Central’s Live From the PGA Championship which is distributed to markets within Golf Channel’s worldwide footprint.
