After winning LIV’s season finale in Indianapolis, Michael La Sasso is among five LIV players who have entered the first stage of DP World Tour Q-School.
La Sasso, who left Ole Miss midway through his senior year to sign with LIV’s HyFlyers, had no top-10s and just one top-30 finish in 11 starts before last week’s victory at LIV Indianapolis. With LIV’s future in doubt, the 22-year-old La Sasso will compete Sept. 8-11 at Seddiner See Golf and Country Club in Michendorf, Germany, one of 10 first-stage sites.
Joining La Sasso in Germany is Yosuke Asaji. Peter Uihlein, Josele Ballester and Luis Masaveu are entered into the Sept. 2-5 qualifier at Huddersfield Golf Club in Huddersfield, England.
Two of the 10 qualifiers have already been completed with amateur Paul Beauvy medaling in his native France and Germany’s Philipp Katich topping the Bristol, England site. Irish amateur Thomas Higgins, the first alternate for Great Britain and Ireland at next weekend’s Walker Cup was among those getting through on Friday. Amateur Nathan Wang, Wolfgang Glawe and Mateo Pulcini also advanced to second stage, which will be contested Oct. 9-Nov. 1 at four sites in Spain.
The last first-stage qualifier will be held Sept. 22-25 in Denmark.
Among the players entered in the remaining sites: Kyle Stanley, Chase Koepka, Austin Greaser, Gavin Hall, Dick Teder, Tiger Christensen, Taylor Funk, Harry Ellis, Marcus Byrd, Charlie Reiter, Jake Beber-Frankel, Mats Ege, Clay Feagler, K.K. Limbhasut, Muzzy Donohoe and Kipp Popert, who has won four straight U.S. Adaptive Opens.
England’s Josh Hill, who is on the 10-man GB&I Walker Cup team, is playing, too, as is Ireland’s David Howard, the second alternate.
