While many players use January to announce new equipment deals or renewals of existing agreements, Ryan Moore has decided to go it alone this year on the PGA Tour.
A winner earlier this season at the CIMB Classic, Moore will play without an equipment endorsement in 2015, according to a PGATour.com report.
Moore has had an agreement with TaylorMade since 2013, and he won in Malaysia in back-to-back years using their equipment. His deal expired at the end of December, and Moore opted not to renew.
"(TaylorMade) made a great offer, but it wasn’t the right time or fit for me to sign a deal,” he said. “My focus is on playing the best golf I can.”
According to the report, Moore will continue to use a TaylorMade driver and 3-wood, while using a hybrid from Adams Golf, with whom Moore was under contract from 2010-13. His irons and wedges, though, will be provided by a newcomer to the equipment world: Parsons Xtreme Golf. The company’s founder, Bob Parsons, is the founder of GoDaddy, outspoken owner at Scottsdale National Golf Club and an avid golfer. Parsons sent a tweet earlier this week to announce the company’s creation.
