MEXICO CITY – Jim “Bones” Mackay, Phil Mickelson’s caddie since he turned pro in 1992, was back on the southpaw’s bag on Saturday for Round 3 at the WGC-Mexico Championship.
Mackay made it just four holes on Friday because of a stomach virus that forced Mickelson to press his brother, Tim, into action.
Tim Mickelson was walking with his brother’s group on Saturday as a potential back up, but Mackay was holding his own although he still appeared to be feeling the impact of the illness.
