NORTON, Mass. – After finishing his second round at TPC Boston on Saturday, Jason Day headed directly to the practice tee in search of a fix for a driver that had found just 13 of 28 fairways for two rounds.
The world No. 1 may not have found the complete answer, but on Sunday there were signs that he is at least heading in the right direction.
“I was just saying to Brooks [Koepka] walking up 18, the last couple weeks has been spurts of that guy, the No. 1 player in the world,” said Day following a third-round 68 that included an eagle at the last. “So it’s just been up and down a little bit of late, but I feel good about it.”

On Day 3 at the Deutsche Bank, Day found 9 of 14 fairways and moved into the top 40 after making the cut on the number.
Day said he was much more comfortable with his driver on Sunday, and he was also more at ease after his family was in a car accident on Friday that resulted in his wife, Ellie, being hospitalized.
“They were just going through an intersection where the [the Day’s RV] is parked, a big bus came flying through and hit the back end of their car,” he said. “She did something to her neck, so obviously whiplash. I think I’m just happy that everyone’s healthy. It could have been worse.”
