AVONDALE, La. – Peter Hanson has struggled just to make cuts this season on the PGA Tour, but a first-round 65 should erase that concern at the Zurich Classic.
On Thursday, he matched the low round of his PGA Tour career, a day highlighted by a hole-out from 184 yards on the sixth hole. The 6-iron shot was the same club he used five days ago to make a hole-in-one at Lake Nona.
Hanson is one shot behind Andrew Svoboda (64).

The Swede has admittedly struggled this year (two top 25s in seven starts) after dealing with a back injury a year ago. “I know all about what Tiger (Woods) is going through,” he said.
After missing the cut at the Masters, Hanson headed home to Orlando, regrouped, reorganized and worked on his game.
“I’m trying to play a little bit more relaxed,” he said. “I think I’ve been a little bit tense when I’ve been out there trying to overdo things.”
