Hall of Famer Juli Inkster will head to Germany to captain the American Solheim Cup team with some winning momentum.

Inkster won the Legends Championship Sunday at the French Lick (Ind.) Resort, her first title on The Legends Tour. The United States will be looking to keep Europe from winning the Solheim Cup for the third consecutive time when the matches are played at St. Leon-Rot Golf Club outside Heidelberg in less than three weeks.

“If a 55-year-old can win, they can win, too,” Inkster said of her American players.

Inkster shot rounds of 71 and 68 at French Lick to win at 5-under overall, finishing two shots ahead of Trish Johnson.

“This was my third event on this tour, and I’m still playing a little on the LPGA tour,” Inkster said. “I love playing with these gals. I grew up playing with them; so it’s not as much stress. It’s pretty low key and it makes golf fun.”
