Players are required to wear pants during practice rounds at PGA Tour events, although they are allowed to wear shorts during practice rounds on the European Tour.
The shift in policy should be welcomed by players when the tournament heads to the Carolinas for the first time since 2012. Temperature highs in Charlotte, N.C., historically average 88 degrees during tournament week.
