Sometimes all it takes is a little visualization.
In the final event of the Web.com Tour’s regular season, 46-year-old journeyman Dicky Pride broke through for a win at the WinCo Foods Portland Open. It was a remarkable achievement, not just because it was Pride’s first professional win in more than 21 years, but because it turns out that he had been holding a hand-written note predicting the win all season long.
Pride has bounced back and forth between the PGA Tour and Web.com circuits for more than a decade, but earlier this year he wrote out a prediction and stuck it in his wallet - essentially creating an on-the-go affirmation:
This has been in my wallet for 6 months I look at it every day. Dream it Believe it write it down and watch it happen pic.twitter.com/fYICaxVwtm

Pride entered last week’s event at No. 40 on the money list, with only the top 25 players locking up cards for next season. Thanks to his three-shot win over Tim Herron, the veteran surged all the way up to No. 5 on the money list and clinched his return to the PGA Tour next season. Perhaps now more players will reach for a pen and paper.
