PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Adam Scott’s 10-shot turnaround Friday was enough to make the weekend – and keep him in pursuit of the world’s top ranking – but after the Australian signed for a second-round 67 at The Players those consolation prizes didn’t make things any better.

“I don’t think I played that much better than yesterday to be honest,” said Scott, who struggled on Day 1 to a 77.

Scott was tied for 73rd when he signed his scorecard on Friday, and at even par he was one stroke off the cut. However the cutline moved up a stroke later in the day, and Scott, who birdied three of his last four holes, now has two more rounds at Sawgrass.

He needs a top-16 finish to overtake Tiger Woods at No. 1 in the World Golf Ranking.
