Stadler (wrist) WDs before third round at Kapalua

Kevin Stadler withdrew Sunday before the third round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions because of a wrist injury.

Stadler has a broken bone in his left wrist but managed to play the first two days at Kapalua, shooting rounds of 74-73. He was in last place in the 34-man, winners-only field, so Tim Clark went out as a single on Sunday.

Stadler pulled out of the WGC-HSBC Champions in November because of the injury. Though surgery was not required, doctors advised the 2014 Phoenix Open winner to shut it down for 6-8 weeks. He hadn’t touched a club since the HSBC.

Stadler is hoping to play in two weeks at the Humana Challenge before defending his title at TPC Scottsdale.
