AUGUSTA, Ga. – He’s played his way out of two slumps. He scored the transatlantic double last year, winning the season-long points races on the PGA and European Tours. He’s pretty much won everything but a major.
Henrik Stenson figures it’s time to get on the Grand Slam board.
“That’s kind of the one thing missing on my record,” he said on Tuesday.

This week’s Masters seems to be the obvious candidate for Stenson to win, although his record at Augusta National (eight starts, three top-20 finishes and three missed cuts) isn’t the best.
Nor did he sound as if he had terribly high expectations when he spoke with the media on Tuesday.
“My putting has been off the last couple of weeks, but that doesn’t matter because putting isn’t that important at Augusta National,” he said with a smile.
Still, the prospect of becoming the first man from Sweden to win a major, and the potential to move to No. 1 in the World Golf Ranking at the Masters, was evident.
When asked for his earliest memories of the Masters growing up in Sweden, Stenson smiled, “I fell asleep many nights watching the Masters.”
