Stenson makes most of midnight lesson in driveway

ORLANDO, Fla. – After a particularly poor pro-am round Wednesday at Bay Hill, Henrik Stenson opted for an impromptu practice session – in his driveway.

Stenson’s swing coach Pete Cowen lives in England, so by the time the Swede reached him to talk about his swing it was nearly midnight.

“I stood in my driveway and we talked for about an hour,” said Stenson, who moved into the lead at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at 16 under following a 66. “These phone lessons on Wednesday night are going to be the thing of the future.”

As for what Cowen told him, Stenson wouldn’t say. “I don’t want you showing up in Houston shooting 66s,” he smiled.
