WADA releases list of golf-related violations

A week before potential Olympians are placed into a more intense testing pool, the World Anti-Doping Agency released its list of violations that included six golfers from around the globe.

Italy led the list with three violations, a male and a female from in-competition testing as well as a non-analytical finding that didn’t stem from a failed drug test.

WADA also reported unspecified violations by players from France, Korea and South Africa.

Of 507 samples, WADA reported eight “adverse analytical findings,” although just one of those violations was reported by the International Golf Federation.

One of the violations was dismissed under a therapeutic-use exemption and two were reported as “no case to answer,” which means the case was closed.

None of the violations were from the PGA Tour, which is not a signatory of the WADA code.

On May 6, potential Olympians will be placed in a testing pool with more stringent testing protocols than those used by the Tour.
