Talk about peaking too early for a tournament.
Derek Fathauer, who has bounced around on both the PGA and Web.com tours, shot a 12-under 59 Tuesday during a practice round for this week’s Brasil Champions.
His scorecard was posted on the Web.com Tour’s Twitter account – a front-nine 27 and closing 32 on the par-71, 6,674-yard Sao Paulo Golf Club in Brazil. He made 11 birdies, an eagle and a bogey.

It’s a stark contrast to how the 28-year-old played a week ago, when he missed the cut after rounds of 75-72 in Chile. Last month, the world No. 894 finished joint eighth in Colombia.
Two weeks ago, Fathauer, a South Florida kid who played college golf at Louisville, Monday-qualified for the Honda Classic and eventually finished 58th.
