Winner Take All

Here are GolfChannel.com’s Power Rankings, a weekly barometer of the hottest players in the game:

2010 Power Rankings: Week 38

RK(LW)NAMECOMMENTS
1(1)Martin Kaymer

Regained the top spot last week after his victory at the KLM Open and, like most of the rest of the big guns, was idle last week. No reason to bump him from the perch.

2(2)
Matt Kuchar

One of a handful of men who have a chance to claim PGA Tour Player of the Year honors this week at East Lake. A month ago it didn’t seem possible, but now it is.

3(3)
Dustin Johnson
He won the last PGA Tour event and has been steady all year. Like Kuchar, DJ has a real chance of being Player of the Year. A victory at the Tour Championship would seal it.
4(3)
Steve Stricker
Steady Stricker would love to close out the year with a victory. If eyes aren’t on him this week, they will be next week when he’ll likely be paired with Tiger Woods at the Ryder Cup.
5(5)
Edoardo Molinari
The Italian superstar has two victories, a second-place finish and a third-place finish in his last seven events. He’s come a long way in a short time.

6(6)
Louis Oosthuizen
The Open champion has had scattered results since his victory at the Old Course with two fourth-place ties, a tie for ninth-place and two missed cuts.
7(7)
Jason Day
The young Aussie didn’t play particularly well at the BMW Championship but his two finishes at The Barclays and the Deutsche Bank Championship put him quickly on the radar.
8(8)
Paul Casey
Known mostly for his Ryder Cup snub, he sucked it up and has continued to play well. He was a shot behind Dustin Johnson at the BMW Championship.
9(9)
Charley Hoffman
The strength of his Deutsche Bank Championship victory has him on this list but truth is, he’s inconsistent. Still, he has a chance to take home $10 million at East Lake.

10(NR)
M. Angel Jimenez
The only man on this list who played last week, produced the only change to this list. ‘The Mechanic’ tied for 15th in Austria, keeping alive his streak of stellar play the past month.

Dropping out: Luke Donald (10)
Receiving votes: Luke Donald, Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy, Hunter Mahan
